MEIC Ltd were awarded the role of Main Civil Construction Contractor for the Galway GWS DBO Bundle No.2 which involved the construction of 16 water treatment schemes in County Galway.There were various sites throughout County Galway, and they varied from previously developed sites to green field sites. Each group water scheme was continuously supplying water to all members of the scheme, therefore this necessitated the requirement to maintain the schemes production during the construction works and the restriction on the interruptions during the changeover process.

The Design-Build scope of works included the construction of the following;

• External tanks 36m from 2-4no. per scheme
• Buildings to house water treatment process plant and equipment (ranging from 13.9m/hr to 123m/hr)
• Raw and treated water storage tanks, treated water reservoirs ranging from 250m to 1500m(13 number)
• Raw and treated watermain, chemical storage slabs and process tanks, process pipework and fittings
• Supply and construction of HPPE pipelines including fittings
• Construction of source protection structures
• Construction of Production Boreholes
