MEIC were awarded the contract for the construction of St. Buites National School in Co. Louth.
The project comprised the following works:
- Construction of a new bespoke architecturally designed single story 8 classroom national school
- Relocation and removal of temporary prefabs
- Demolition of existing school building and outbuildings and associated site works.
The new school building comprises of 8 classrooms, GP Hall, Library, Set Rooms, Offices, Multi-Purpose Room, Staff Room and Ancillary Accommodation with an area of 1,492sq.m.
Due to existing and surrounding properties, planning conditions stipulated high standard finishes such as:
- Natural slate roof finishes
- Cedar wood cladding
- Aluminium fenestration and cladding.
Phase two:
Demolition of the existing school building, with on overall floor area of 750m2 within the summer months period, to allow change over from old to new at the beginning of the new school year. The process included:
- Removal and relocating existing temporary accommodation
- Complete demolition of existing building
- Monitoring and control of dust, noise and vibration levels
- Working in close proximity to the newly built structure
- Removal of associated boundaries
Phase three:
Completion of all associated site works which included
- Car parks & Vehicular set down areas
- Basketball courts & Perimeter fencing
- Hard and soft play areas
- Footpaths & Landscaping
- Front and rear stone clad boundary walls
- Entrance gates
- Signage
