The Clonmany Bridge project involved the fabrication and erection of a 25m long steel footbridge on reinforced concrete abutments and central piers adjacent to an existing masonry arch road bridge. The primary structures of the bridge were cellular plate girders, which were bespoke fabricated items to a specified radius.
The Clonmany Footbridge project involved work over the Clonmany River, whcih had addtional Health and Safety precautions and mitigation measures. Works carried out included the following:
- Drafting of Steel Fabrication Drawings;
- Fabrication of the Structural Steel Bridge;
- Erection of Steel Bridge on Site;
- Traffic Management
The bridge is constructed from fabricated cellular radius beams and it is fully galvanised and painted. Throughout the construction phase, Traffic Management was extremely important to ensure that the works could be carried out in a safe environment for construction staff and the general public and to prevent disturbance to the local network.
