MIXED LIQUOR VACUUM DEGASSING (MLVD)

Glan Agua integrated Mixed Liquor Vacuum Degassing (MLVD) technology into its pioneering design for the Cavan WWTP Upgrade Project. The MLVD technology is an patented process designed to condition activated sludge in order to make the wastewater treatment process easier to control and operate. The MLVD technology changes specific properties of the activated sludge, facilitating higher performance characteristics of a wastewater treatment system and reducing the overall size of a plant.

The MLVD technology has been utilised in over 40 wastewater installations worldwide. Nevertheless, Glan Agua with their ground-breaking design for the Cavan WWTP upgrade, were early adopters of this innovative solution and became the first company to successfully install and commission a MLVD process in Ireland.

UVA/UVT Monitored Coagulant Dosing

Glan Agua have developed a system designed to be easily retrofitted to existing dosing systems in treatment plants experiencing problems of organic carbon breakthrough. This initiative successfully helped to reduce residual chlorine in distribution networks and, consequently, lower the potential of THMs formation.

Features

  • UVA/UVT monitor with optional turbidity compensation
  • Control PLC with HMI screen

Benefits

  • Effective removal of organics
  • Reduced risks of THMs
  • Reduced chemical wastage by preventing overdosing
  • Easy retrofitting to existing dosing systems

Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA)

Glan Agua have incorporated off-site fabrication/manufacturing methods into a number of project designs in order to reduce cost and schedule for our clients.

Features

  • Pre-fabricated tanks
  • Portal- frame buildings
  • Packaged treatment plants
  • Substations

Benefits

  • Lower capex
  • Reduced construction time
  • Less health & safety risk
  • Increased quality
  • More sustainable (less waste, pollution, noise, on-site vehicle movement)

Building Information Modelling

Glan Agua are fully committed to implementing BIM workflow processes in their designs and future operations management. BIM is becoming an integral feature in the water industry and Glan Agua understand the significance of this speciality brings to the MEICA disciplines. Glan Agua’s implementation of BIM strategies has been at the centre of our design. Our expertise in this field was demonstrated by the implementation of QR Codes in our award-winning Kerry Central RWSP projects, where BIM was used to assist O&M services.

Features

  • 3D Design Capability
  • Clash detection
  • Design walk-through, project sequencing, operations management

Benefits

  • Better designs through collaboration
  • Reduced safety risk
  • Faster project delivery
  • Improved whole life cost management
